Born in Mysore in 1958, Revathi Kamath grew up in a family where music and nature were not hobbies but a way of life. Her father was a disciple of the Mysore Court Scholar Veena Venkatagiriappa. She inherited both his love for music and his connection to the land.
She pursued an M.Sc. and went on to become a legendary landscapist of India. She is the first woman to be honoured with the title "the earthist" and "the lake woman" of India, a recognition of her unimaginable work in restoring ecological balance across Karnataka.
